The Longhorns, known for their potent offense, came out swinging in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs, junior shortstop Janae Jefferson crushed a solo home run to center field, giving Texas an early 1-0 lead. However, the Red Raiders were quick to respond, tying the game in the top of the third inning with a run of their own.

The game remained deadlocked at 1-1 until the top of the sixth inning, when Texas Tech's Kelly Horton hit a solo home run to put the Red Raiders up 2-1. But the Longhorns were not about to back down, and they tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with an RBI single from Mary Iakopo.

The game headed into extra innings, with both teams refusing to give up. In the top of the ninth inning, Texas Tech's Zoe Juarez hit a solo home run to put the Red Raiders up 3-2. But the Longhorns were not about to let their chances slip away, and they responded with a walk-off home run from Miranda Elish in the bottom of the ninth inning, securing a thrilling 4-3 victory.
